Teatro Colon

It's not August, but some things have to be done.  Teatro Colón is one of the world's greatest opera houses with acoustics so perfect a feather dropping on stage could be heard throughout the auditorium.

So I looked online, and there was a show on (Aida) while I was here, and there were tickets available for one performance in the run, so I sat with Google Translate on one screen, and a Spanish only website on the other and trusted myself to buy a ticket for the extortionate price of 10.5 pesos (just under £8).

You can probably spot one of the caveats that come with a ticket like that: there are eight levels of seating and I'm on the top one with a somewhat restricted view.  The other is that there is no seating on this level.  Standing room only for a performance lasting three hours.  My poor feet; this was after a very long day's walk around the city.  But my ears and soul are beyond happy.
