Uzbekistan - Tashkent

Somewhere between Mumbai and Moscow....this place is already like nowhere I've ever seen. Highlights of today include seeing the first ever written Qoran (photos not permitted), written on deerskin in 646AD and still legible. And the market; oh my, if you like food, that place is heaven. I could have spent hours there, mostly because it was stunning but also because I'd never have found my way out again!

Plov - the national dish of Uzbekistan.  Every region has their own version, and every region is convinced that theirs is the best.  The longevity of a wedding is predicted by the quality of the plov served.  Fortunately a vegetarian version is available.
